Maybe it's the Weather?

I have been so down and out these days, and I just can't seem to shake it. Normally, I'm pretty decent about grieving something and moving on. Not so these days of late. Luckily, the New Year is around the corner, and that's always hope for a clean slate. In the meantime, I'm loving pleasant little reminders like this one* to brighten some moments along the way.

*Unfortunately, I do not recall its origin. But I'm happy to credit if anyone can tell me who should get the praise!

Every once in awhile, I have an uninspired day. Though rare, they are thunderous, and I accomplish nothing. Comes complete with loads of guilt, because, literally, it's my job to be creative. Oh, blessed me.

I think it's safe to assume that this chick does not have uninspired days. She is Incredible with a capital "I" (obv).

Wedded Bliss

Having just gone through the process of wedding planning and surviving (more on that later), I'm absolutely thrilled to be standing next to one of my dearest friends next June for her big day! I've been a bridesmaid...um...a few times before, but now I feel like I have a whole new perspective on what I can do to make the day (and all of the days leading up to it) as perfect as possible for my friend.

She's asked me to design her wedding invites (total thrill, and great honor!), and I am freaking pumped about some of the inspiration we've pulled together.





*sigh*

As a designer, I feel like it's inevitable that you would wish you'd done it all differently after the fact on something as huge as your wedding invitations. I am no exception. Though I'm very happy with how they came out, I think we're just so overexposed to great design, and always wanting to one-up ourselves. Maybe that's just me? I guess it's a blessing that I get the occasional request from friends and family!

Dying over Coralie Bickford-Smith's cover designs for Penguin Classics. I'm the proud owner of three of these beauties, and can't wait to get them on my someday bookshelf in my someday gorgeous home. With bookshelves. Because right now, I'm workin with none.

SOOO how insanely awesome would these babies look all lined up in a perfect little line? Methinks quite nice.






I started my collection with these three beauties because, frankly, they're the ones that I didn't just read the cliff notes for in school. And -- surprise -- really did enjoy. Who knew?

Many thanks to my high school senior English teacher, Mrs. Hancock, for doing what she could. I can tell you that I would have been a lot more inclined to read them if they'd been dressed in these threads!

...but it's Wednesday. But Type Tuesday sounds like something a girl like me should be doing. So let's shoot for some consistency here.

These images are seriously fueling my latest obsession with vintage lettering design. There's just something about the beautifully refined letterforms so intricately positioned in the artwork. And the insane cartouches and swashes? Don't get me started. I found all of these guys here.

Here's to fall! I noticed yesterday as I drove along Ward Parkway that the trees are starting to turn. Time to drive through old neighborhoods with even older trees. I love this time of year!
